St. Pete Shenanigans

đź“Ť St. Petersburg, Florida

Downtown Saint Petersburg… the heart and soul of the city. It felt as though down every alley way was lined with cobblestone grounds and architecture to die for. Exploring the hallways of art galleries and taking in all the brightly painted murals was a photographers dream… or at least mine. As soon as I caught heart eyes for one mural I’d turn the corner to be amazed by another. It fascinates me how every artist has a completely different technique for when it comes to creating their murals yet they’re all cohesive.

My best friend / partner in crime Emily.

By the time we had wrapped up roaming through the back ways of Downtown our stomachs had awakened an appetite we couldn’t ignore. Our cuisine destination of choice: Locale Market. With food stations stretching from back to front there’s no denying the urban ambience this place carries. Sadly at this time in our adventure my hangry side dominated and the photographer / blogger side got shoved to the curb which is why there’s no photographs of food. *insert sad face*

June 23, 2017 will forever go down in the books as one of the most art enriched days of my entire life and I’d relive it in a heartbeat.

A Touch Of Color

“Women who wear black lead colorful lives.” – Neiman Marcus

There’s no better piece of literature that can possible describe me yet with the renewal of energy that comes along with the spring time I’ve made a commitment to myself to start integrating more aspects of color into my wardrobe.

Now I’m aware of what you may be thinking, “Lexi… you’re just wearing navy blue.” Well while you might be correct, I’m still dipping my toes into this new colorful lifestyle, I never said I was ready to jump in head first.

On my journey to more intense hues I’ve took a little detour into the arena of off-the-shoulder tops. There’s something so amazing about feeling the warm breeze across your dĂ©colletĂ© every now and again.

Cartilage Stud

I must admit I’m falling in love with anything & everything to do with fashion. This may be the 1st styling post you see from me but have no fear, it’s by no means the last…

The Spring Edit

March 20th: the official day Spring sprung! Without a doubt in my mind I’m obsessed with the overall composition of this look. Glossy skin, bold brows and bare lips are the basics of this ensemble.

  • Glowy Skin – For me my makeup isn’t complete unless I top it off with a touch of highlight, particularly cream-based. As of late I’ve rediscovered my MAC Cream Colour Base in Hush. Once the sunlight strikes your cheekbones there’s no denying the luminosity it leaves you with. There’s a saying that goes ‘The proof is in the pudding.’ well in this case it’s ‘The proof is in the picture.’
  • Unruly Brows – My brow technique has without fail been the most consistent aspect of my makeup routine. Bold yet still on the natural spectrum, my ride or die to achieve bushy brows is the Anastasia Brow Definer in Chocolate.
  • Simple Eye – Spring is the time when all things color start appearing but if you’re a girl like me then bright shades tend to intimate you. Which is the exact reason adding a hint of a subtle colored shadow into the crease for some definition on the eye could make a world of a difference. Personally, muted purple shades make my brown eyes {or what I like to call ‘poop eyes} stand out a tad more which I love!
  • Natural Lip – I feel as though the whole matte lip craze has slowly started to wither away, so with that being said I’ve began to embrace the simplest lip of them all: bare lips. The natural tone of my lips are quite pink which is ideal for the spring time drawing near. All I’ll do is slap on a lip balm for both nourishment & a hint of gloss and I’m out the door.

The Glow Getters

Non-touring: an approach to your makeup shunning the heavily contoured look and embracing a natural glowy complexion. Personally my motto is: the dewier, the better!

If your anything like me then you drink Pepsi as if it’s getting discontinued {I’m trying to work on it okay!}, but until I can ween myself off of it I’m gonna stick to slapping on a thicker moisturizer a little bit before I sit down at my vanity. My go-to one is the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. I like to refer to it as my everyday shot of hydration. It leaves the skin with the appearance of moisturized / glossy skin, what more could you ask of a cream.

A technique I’ve loved incorporating in my beauty routine as of late is combing a few droplets of a glowy serum with a tinted moisturizer. In this case we’re chatting about Glossier’s Super Glow Serum & Pixi’s H20 Skin Tint. Grabbing a damp beauty blender and dabbing {insert a gif of an old lady dabbing} into the skin leaves you with a flawless yet natural base.

A product that’s out of the ordinary to achieve glossy skin is Glossier’s Balm Dotcom. The texture leans a little more on the sticky / tacky side but trust me, after a light sweep of powder it appears as if a little of your natural oils have crept to the surface. Read very carefully what I’m about to write: cream – based products are the key to a dewy complexion. Once they’ve sat on the skin for a bit they begin to melt into the face & become extremely skinlike. The drugstore has been killing my blush and bronzer game, the Wet n’ Wild Mega Cushion Contour = A+ combined with the H&M Cream Blusher in Cameo Brown.

I’m all tapped out for this Glowy Guide! ✨

First Impression: Sephora Haul

You know that moment when you realize you’ve done it again… spent way more money then you’d care to admit on makeup, yeah that was me last Friday. If we’re being honest though I was lowkey enthusiastic about all my purchases.

Bold and feathery are the two words I’d use to describe my brows as of late. There’s something about that unkept, natural appearance that just gets to me. My preferred method for the brows are pencils, the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil has taken the top spot amongst all other brow tools. With an angular tip on one end & a spooly on the other to comb through the brows, this pencil leaves your eyebrows defined but still on the natural side.

For the longest time I never set my brows yet wondered why they never stayed in place. Well… Lexi it’s because you’re not using brow gel, duh! The Gimme Brow from Benefit has completely changed my brow game, major props to Benefit for their entire brow range!

When it comes to the skin my aim is for it to appear minimal & glowy. I personally lean more forwards cream luminzers, the subtle dew they leave me with is indescribable. It was about that time to introduce a new highlight {or 2} to the family and there were the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops calling my name. The pipet applicator is unique but I’m kind of into it. It gives the skin a wet-like appearance & don’t even get me started about when the sunlight hits your cheekbones.

We all are familiar with the “Walk Of Dome” at Sephora a.k.a. the aisle of minis. This last splurge I blame on that aisle, the Tarte Tarteist PRO Glow To Go. I haven’t really come up with a complete verdict on this palette quite yet. As for the shade ‘Gleam’ though … it gets all the heart eye emojis from me!
