We all have those go-to fragrances sitting on top of our vanities that we rotate between. So for this issue of The Fragrance Files, we’re gonna be conversing about what scents are battling each other at the moment.

  1. Miss Dior Eau de Parfum: The Dior brand embodies elegance. From their gorgeous makeup to their killer shades and this fragrance is by no means any different. This aroma has a citrusy freshness with a touch of jasmine.
  2. Elizabeth & James Nirvana {White}: I picture this scent on a sophisticated lady from The Upper East Side who is about to jet out the door for a mid Sunday brunch with her girlfriends or a natural grunge girl who loves nothing more then an all black outfit and to accessorize with a choker. With notes of peony and musk this perfume is the definition of refinement.
  3. Gucci Bamboo: I’m sure I could sit here and endlessly describe about how this fragrance carries notes of Italian Bergamot, Sandalwood and Casablanca but if I’m being 100% real with you the only way I can describe this scent as being da bomb!
  4. Elizabeth & James Nirvana {Black}: One whiff of this perfume and you’ll know it’s similar yet worlds apart from its sister scent. Consisting of Violet, Vanilla and a touch of Sandalwood, there is no better aroma with the perfect blend of masculine and feminine.

Style Profile: Accessories

For as long as I can remember, I’ve constantly stuck to the basic Black Ray Ban shades but all good things must come to an end. I’ve been on the hunt for a good pair of sunnies for a while now and one night I was aimlessly scrolling through the H&M website and that’s when I laid my eyes on them. An Aviator style with silver toned lenses.

Chokers are one of those pieces in your jewelry stash that you have the choose to either dress up, you could possibly pair it with a classic simple black dress or casual it out with one of my beloved outfit choices, a comfy romper. I only have 2 in my collection so far, both from Etsy and black of course. One a Faux Leather Two Strand Choker and the other a Thin Velvet Choker.

Within the past month or so, rings have had their own particular home on my vanity top. A concept I’ve been especially fond of though has been layering rings. Whether I’m multiple rings on one finger or opting for a midi ring, I can’t seem to put down this hand accessory.

Remember Me?

Remember me? It’s been far longer then I’d like to admit since the last time I hit the publish button. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried writing out what’s been going on in my life right now or whats gone on these past couple of months that I’ve been MIA. If you would have only seen the papers I’ve been using to jot down the ideas in my head, full of scribbles, arrows pointing to things I want to mention and things I don’t. These last 4 months or so definitely classify as crazy, both in a good and bad sense. I’ve been a lot more busy this year then I ever thought I was gonna be and there’s no sign of it slowing down in the next 6 months. The main thing I want you to take out of this post is that I’M BACK TO BLOGGING!! There isn’t going to be a specific day on which I post a blog, so expect to be seeing either one post a week or you never know there could be 2.

The Wishlist: Vol. II

Processed with VSCOcam with b4 preset

The beauty world has been killing it as of late with countless cutting edge beauty launches. From Colourpop doing their take on the infamous brow pomade to Maybelline showing off some sneak peeks back stage at Fashion Week. Oh, and have you seen Urban Decay’s Summer 2016 Collection. I have my eye out for there Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector so much so that I might be placing a sneaky order tonight. You see I’m not even done typing up this post and I’m already getting myself to go online shopping.

  • Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip: I’ve had an incurable hunger for one of Colourpop’s latest releases and to make matters worse the shade Mess Around has caught my eye. I’d characterize this shade as a grunge lip for us natural girls.
  • NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil: I’m all about a first-class matte lip so when a review from none other then Lily Pebbles popped into my Bloglovin’ feed raving about a brown mauve matte lip color (Bahama) I couldn’t help but press buy in my online shopping cart.
  • Burberry Fresh Glow BB Cream: All it took for me to longing want this was the sheer fact that it says fresh glow in the name of it. Need I say more, I think not.
  • Diptyque Feu de Bois Candle: A while back I received a mini size of the Jasmin candle from Diptyque and the second I light the candle I knew I had been sucked it. Now I’m over here drooling over a woody scent and picturing it burning in my room.
  • Glossier Boy Brow: The department of brows has constantly been the one aspect of my makeup regime I haven’t fully grasped yet. I mean it’s well over a year since the last time I got my brows threaded, don’t get me wrong they looked bomb afterwards but the whole getting their part wasn’t so easy. But I’ve made a promise to my mom (hopefully she forgets) that within the next couple of weeks I’ll take the plunge and get them threaded so I feel as though the Glossier Boy Brow would be perfect for a no fuss brow routine.
  • Makeup Forever Step 1  Skin Equalizer Primer: A primer can either make or break the way your makeup lays on your skin. It seems everyone and their mom has raved about Makeup Forever’s Primer range so when I heard that their is a hydrating version I couldn’t resist dragging it to my online shopping cart.

Gushing Over Glossier

Us beauty enthusiasts always have that one brand that is without a doubt on their lust list and for me that is Glossier. From their minimalistic approach on packaging to the whole basis of the brand. It’s save to assume that I’ve been glossified. Oh, and we can’t forget their aesthetically pleasing IG.

Now if you’re a little curious on where Glossier came from their is no need to fret, I’ve got you covered. Emily Weiss (founder of Into The Gloss) designed & developed a line of products that are a necessity for the everyday girl.

  • Milky Jelly Cleanser: It was love at first pump for me and Glossier’s newest release. From the rose scent that accompanied it to the softness of my skin afterwards, I can’t seem to spot a flaw in it.
  • Soothing Face Mist: I’m by no means a big league when it comes to knowing what makes a good face mist but whenever I use this I feel as though I might have cracked the code. This along with their cleanser has been a dynamic duo in my skincare routine as of late.
  • Priming Moisturizer: The moment my ears heard the name of this product it was practically in my cart already. This creme is the ultimate fuse of a day and night moisturizer all while priming the skin.
  • Perfecting Skin Tint: If there is one area of makeup I pride myself on it’s knowing what lightweight base to go for and let me say that this skin tint has checked all the boxes for me.
  • Balm Dotcom:There couldn’t be a name more fitting when conversing about this gem. It has stolen the top position in my lip balm stockpile. I’ve fallen in love with this skin salve so quickly that I’ve already introduced it to my mom.

All the hype around Glossier hasn’t been misplaced whatsoever. So the question is now: When are you going to be glossified?

Cutting Edge Beauty Launches

I feel as though there is an unwritten contract amongst the drugstore brands that states January as the primetime to catch us beauty consumers off guard with brand spanking new  products. Don’t get me wrong I’m not having a fit whatsoever, new drugstore picks always seem to put a smile on this girls face.

  • Maybelline Master Fix Setting + Perfecting Powder: I’m what you would consider a novice when it comes to loose powders and what better time is it to try one then while at the drugstore. As far as this one goes, there are no complaints so far.
  • L’oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation: A complexion perfecter that every base lover needs in their repertoire. The idea of a foundation soaked in a sponge intrigued the crap out of me and let me just say that it’s worth all the hype it’s receiving. I won’t give to much away as I might have a review in this works so all I can say for now is keep your eyes peeled.
  • L’oreal Infallible Pro-Contour: Slowly but surely I’ve been getting into subtle contouring and it let me just kick things off by saying even the slightest bit of contouring can make the world of a difference. So it made my little heart beat a bit faster when I spotted a contouring palette from the drugstore. The powder is definitely a bit on the intense side but when used sparingly you can’t go wrong.
  • Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid: For a girl who has been lacking the joy of having a liquid lipstick in her life I couldn’t resist clutching on to a few of these bad boys.

The Beauty Blender

Every good artist needs tools for their trade, mine just happens to be makeup related.

The first time little me took the plunge and invested in the beauty blender things didn’t quite turn out how I had planned. It seemed as though everyone else had found their partner in crime when it came to a base product tool and I was over here trying to figure out why this was any better then using your fingertips or lets say a brush. Come to find out the whole time I’d been punishing this tool for my own mistake – I hadn’t read about the part where your supposed to saturate it before using it. Trust me when I say that it made a world of a difference. Now I can’t seem to let this little guy out of my possession.

The beauty blender can practically make anything look like skin. Whether it’s foundation, concealer, liquid highlighter – you name it, it blends it. The only thing you have to think while using it is pounce and pat, once you get that technique down there is nothing that can stop you.  Also who doesn’t want a black egg shaped sponge sitting on on their vanity for all to admire.

If your anything like me your iPhone is an extension of you. From checking the lastest blog posts to snapping pictures my iPhone is in constant use. It’s even gotten to the point where at all times I have a portable charger in my possession. I’m that person constantly downloading apps on to there phone. Here’s a rundown of the apps I use on a daily basis…

  • VSCO Cam: The app I use exclusively for editing anything and everything photography.
  • Canon Camera Connect: I can transfer my photos via wifi from my Canon G7x to my phone.
  • Bloglovin: A virtual newspaper for us bloggers. A place where all of the latest posts are in one feed.
  • Instagram: By far the social media outlet I frequent the most. I love discovering unique photographers and seeing the way they capture a moment.
  • WordPress: No matter when a new post goes up I love the convince of being able to check the comments on my phone or editing those minor mistakes out before hitting publish.
  • Music: The music app is something you’ll catch me on almost 100% of the time. I’m pretty sure I eat, sleep, and breath music.

A Fresh Beginning

Where do I begin? I feel as though I need to catch up with you like an old friend. An abundance has happened since I lasted posted but for me one of the biggest changes in my mind is regarding content on my blog. Don’t get me wrong I’ll always be devoted to writing about all things beauty related but there is also a whole other side to me. I feel as though sometimes I can get myself in a rut and after a while I’m just making clones. Photography and writing are two creative outlets I’ve fell in love with and want to begin integrating more into my blog. Whether it’s a piece of  writing about what’s going on in my mind that week or a haul on a few new stationary bits. My inspiration levels are at an all time high concerning content and I couldn’t be more eager to get back on the blogging bandwagon!
