NYC Beauty Haul | April 2015

Oh a haul, I can’t remember the last time I wrote up one of these posts. This past week I went to NYC with some family and did a little damage at Sephora and Macys. Dior, Hourglass, and Clarins are just a few of the brands I picked up some products from.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water: I could not pass up this new product at Sephora. Spraying a primer on your face before applying any makeup intrigued me. I tested the water (no pun intended) and it actually worked. The day I used this primer I had my makeup on for upwards of 12 hours and trust me my makeup stayed on no problem. Definitely a product I will be reaching for on an everyday basis.

Dior Skin Nude BB Creme: I can’t tell you how many times I’ve passed up the Dior Skin Nude BB Creme. Countless amounts of beauty lovers have done nothing but rave about this product so I thought it was about time I jump on the bang wagon. I haven’t had the chance to try this yet but I have big hopes for it. I picked up the shade 003.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream: Continuing on with the base train is the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream. Bare Minerals recommends to apply this product with your fingertips and I’d have to agree. It leaves a dewy healthy looking glow on the skin and feels ultra lightweight.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer: Rounding up the  complexion products is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Ginger. Another cult classic in the beauty world. I put this product to the test and let me just say I can understand all of the hype. It can cover up blemishes with a breeze while still looking natural. I especially love the doe foot applicator.

Clarins Bronzing Duo: Clarins is a brand that I’ve not tried a ton of things from which is why when I went to NYC I knew I needed to keep my eye out for them. The first product I picked up is the Bronzing Duo in 02 Medium. This bronzer reminds me a lot of the Too Faced Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer just without the sheen. You can swirl your brush in both of the colors to create the perfect shade.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush: From the moment these blushes were released they had my heart. At first I picked up the shade Mood Exposure which is lovely for the fall time but I was in the lookout for a more spring appropriate blush and then I stumbled across Diffused Heat. A vibrant poppy shade perfect for the spring time.

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector: As you can see there is a slight trend going on with the cult classic products and here again is yet another one. The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors are like a lip gloss but without the sticky texture. They leave a natural gloss finish on the lips nice for throwing in your makeup bag.

Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector: The Instant Light Lip Balm Perfectors go hand in hand with the Natural Lip Perfectors. In the lip balm I picked up the shade 06 Rosewood (I’m I the only one who thought of PLL when I heard that name) which is the perfect nude brown for everyday wear.

Phew, that was a big haul. My hands are cramping for writing so much. It’s safe to say that I’m not going to be doing another haul like this for a while now. If you’ve tried any of these products let me know what you think of them. I hope you enjoyed taking a peek at what I got in NYC. Have you got anything new recently and if so what?

Simple Micellar Water

IMG_0469

Oh, the Simple Micellar Water where do I begin. The concept of micellar waters has always intrigued me – a water cleansing your skin, removing my makeup, and hydrating the skin all at once seemed almost impossible… until I came across the Simple Cleansing Micellar Water. It ticked everything  on my beauty checklist without hesitation. When writing this post I felt obligated to look up the definition of micellar, lets just say that chemistry has never been my strong suit so we are just going to skip right over that and go straight to how much I love this product.

One of the main things on my beauty checklist is packaging which I think they nailed for the product. I love being able to see the product that way you know when your getting low. I’m on my second bottle of this and I already purchased a back up. So you can clearly tell I’m a huge fan of this product. Another pro is that it smells like apples, it’s not to strong but you can notice it. So that could be something to keep in the back of your mind when at the drugstore.

In my opinion this product removes makeup with a breeze. All it takes is one swipe of the cotton pad with the product on it and whoosh you have a clean face. Afterwards your face feels smooth and fresh. Definitely has a thumbs up in my book. So next time your at the drugstore you need to pick this up and if you do use the #TestTheWater on Twitter and Instagram.

P.S. I’m leaving for New York today so get ready for some scenery blog posts. Also if you want to see what I’ll be up to on the trip go follow me on Instagram @beautychatwithlexi and twitter @beautywithlex.
